After our stay in Death Valley, we decided that a little luxury was needed. Wine Ridge RV Resort, on the property of Pahrump Valley Winery, was just the ticket. The campground is on a hill overlooking town and the winery tasting room and restaurant. We had a fantastic meal along with the opportunity to taste 3 white wines. Deb had an unusual and delicious shrimp scampi with a sauce made from their sweet white. Bob had an excellent chicken Tuscany with Marsala and sherry sauce. Surprisingly, the unoaked Chardonnay was our favorite wine, and it also had the most interesting labels.
On the way back to Southern California we decided to avoid the highway and take US-95 from Needles to Blythe. As the elevation changed we ran in to a forest of Joshua trees which slowly gave way to a forest of ocotillo. It doesn’t get any better than that!
