Ute Lake State Park, Logan, New Mexico

Leaving town forced us to head up into the mountains and on I-40 we topped out at about 8000 feet.  After going through Tucumcari we headed north to the park.  The only campground that was open was the very large Yucca section. Basically, it was a gentle slope down to the lake. Each site had a shelter and a windbreak. We had strong winds that shook the birdcage all evening. Only three RVs in the whole place. OK for an overnight but very much out of the way. Nice spot when your intention is to stay off the interstates.
