This park is on a peninsula formed by the Tomoka River and the Intracoastal Waterway. At one time a Native American village was located here. The park has salt marshes, a large stand of old growth live oaks, and 12 miles of shoreline.

We went for a bike ride to see the natural attractions and were unnerved by an unnatural attraction: a very large statue representing the mythical Chief Tomokie. It is on the Roadside America list of unusual attractions. I think the park is trying to pretend that it doesn’t exist, as it isn’t mentioned in any of the park literature.

Finally, we have another local attraction, the Ghostbusters in the parking lot at a nearby Publix grocery store.
