Rather unique as an urban park of more than 1400 wooded acres in the suburbs of the city of Columbia. The park was created in the late 1930s and many of the buildings were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Even though the weather was not the best, the campground was full and the park was busy with visitors.
On Saturday morning, we hiked the Sandhills Trail, a loop around the 30 acre lake. We spent the afternoon repairing our waste water hose reel. After a couple hours of improvisation, we made a trip to the dump station and spent the remainder of the day enjoying our ability to use water again.
The campground has 84 sites, many of which are not level. Large motorhomes and fifth wheels were having problems all over the place. Some trees seemed strategically placed to cause difficulty. Ours was level and good sized. Campground roads were gravel and sand and potholes were somewhat plentiful. Bathrooms were dated but clean-ish with plenty of hot water. Both AT&T and Verizon were good. Lots of OTA TV stations. Food and other shopping is within a mile or two.
On the way out of town we stopped for groceries. This huge patch of pansies gave hope that spring is moving north.
