San Angelo State Park, San Angelo, Texas

Last time we were here, we spent a good bit of time visiting the pleasant downtown and exploring its river walk. This pandemic year we chose to stick to wide open spaces. There were plenty of trails for us to explore. On one, we encountered these guys, who were happy to ignore us.

The park also has some of the Texas Longhorn Herd, but we didn’t see them this year.

A nice bird area was set up along one trail. It included a bird blind, lots of feeders, and an old trough that spilled water onto the ground and into a small stream. The birds mobbed this area, and we spent a good half hour watching them gorge themselves.

It was a pleasant stay, but we missed visiting the downtown.
