Kerrville-Schreiner Park, Kerrville, Texas

Possibly the best feature of this park is proximity to the Kerrville River Trail, a six mile long bike and walking trail that follows the Guadalupe River. Access from the campground is across a highway but very doable.

On Friday, we rode into town for lunch and found ourselves at the old train station of the San Antonio &  Aransas Pass Railroad, known today as the home of Rails Cafe. We enjoyed the warm weather out on the terrace. Wonderful meals! Order something with or beg your server to get you some raspberry vinaigrette dressing to take home. You will not be disappointed!

One other side trip of note was for a tasting and tour at Becker Vineyards, one of our favorites in the Texas Hill Country. Delicious!

Wine Aging At Becker Vinyards

The campground is beginning to show a little age. The basics were built by the CCC in the 1930s for the then Kerrville State Park. Roads are paved but rough. Most sites are side pull-throughs that vary greatly in levelness. Not much in the way of OTA TV and the ability to use a satellite dish will depend on the amount of tree cover at each site. Both Verizon and AT&T service was good. Anything you may need is available just minutes away in town.
