Hershey RV Show, Giant Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania

The Hershey RV show is said to be and advertised as the world’s largest. This year there were supposed to be about 1200 Motorhomes and trailers parked around the Giant Center.

We were here last year as well when we were still trying to decide what to buy. We talked about what our needs were and likes and dislikes, etc. We downloaded the map and vendor list and circled what we wanted to see and do and then we went shopping. By this time we had rented several RVs and already had ideas about what we wanted. Then, with water bottles in hand, we walked the grounds in search of the perfect RV.

This year, however, it was a bit different. Instead of just coming for one day, we were camped at the Hersheypark Campground. We could take the bus from the campground to the show. We were here for two days instead of one. We had our house and now we needed stuff to put in it. We keep a little blue notebook in our junk drawer and there we make our lists. What do we need? What do we want to change? And as in 2013, we took our lists and we went shopping again.

All the RVs are outside. Some vendors are also outside and some are inside. As with last year, we had a plan and with the extra time afforded by two days, we went to several seminars. Because it gets hot here in September, we worked the outside until we needed food and/or relief and then went inside and stayed there. We didn’t find everything on our lists but we did cross off a few things. More importantly, in some cases, we got ideas. There’s no better way to get ideas than to come to a show like this. Very likely, somebody has already had the same needs and maybe found a smaller, better, cheaper solution. And also, you will find things you didn’t know you needed.

All said, we don’t plan to come every year but since it’s only two hours from home, we’ll be back.
