Fontainebleau State Park, Mandeville, Louisiana

Temperatures were ten to fifteen degrees above normal and we actually saw a number of people, including children, at the beach. Lake Pontchartrain was pretty calm and there was a summery haze in the air even though it was the middle of December.

We had expected a lot of tree damage from hurricane Ida and we found it. The live oak tree below was one of the lucky ones. It survived with only a sever thrashing. The picnic area around the parking lots and the campground were filled with cut off or blown over stumps of trees that didn’t make it through the storm. The majority of the damage was, however, cleaned up but the campground was much more open.

Traffic was a bit heavy coming from the causeway but we needed to stop for groceries in Mandeville anyway.

Bunsen Wants A Better View

Normally, our feathered friends are most comfortable close to their cage and food. For some reason this afternoon, Bunsen decided he needed a little bit of a better view of what was going on so he found himself a perch and took in the action. When I started taking pictures, he gave me “the look”.

Site: 6. Good Verizon. AT&T, as well. Any supplies you need can be found in Mandeville.
