Yep, THAT South Of The Border.
If you don’t know what that means, let me just suggest that Google is your friend. The ads start three hours away in both directions on I-95 and you can’t believe that it can be all that you see on the billboards but you’d be wrong.
We’d see the billboards for several years but never stopped. This time, Camp Pedro just happened to be where we needed to stop for the night so we checked out the reviews and found them to be surprisingly favorable. Yes, the campground is a bit old and yes, the facilities are a bit old but we found the place to be quite nice, very clean and staffed but very friendly and helpful people.
The only downside was very bright lighting in the rear of the maintenance facility next to the campground. Not sure if that was a nightly occurrence or a one-nighter but it was a distraction at our site. Other sites farther back in the campground probably wouldn’t be bothered by it either way. Several reviewers mentioned a lack of security at the campground. Our experience was quite different. A gate and card system regulated access and security runs through the campground were obvious.
