We needed a place to escape the heat and Black Moshannon was the perfect choice. As every good RVer knows, there’s two ways to moderate temperature, go north and go up. The park is at about 1900 ft and we got about 10-15 degrees of relief. We’ve been coming here for more than thirty years but this is our first time camping.
Even though the campground is on top of and down the side of a hill, most of the sites are reasonably level. Steps down the hill to the concession stand and day use areas are within easy walking distance. We took a ranger-led boat tour on the lake and surrounding bogs that detailed the history of the region.
Because of the mountains, there’s no TV and cell service is nonexistent without a booster and even then one site may be OK and the next one won’t be.
