After crossing the state line, were greeted by a Saturn-1B rocket at the Alabama Welcome Center, a tribute to the history of the space program in the Huntsville area.
The speedway folks have gotten into the tire decoration trend over the past few years and we’d like them to know we appreciate the effort.
Still not quite warm in Montgomery but the scenery was nice and the Catoma campground is long so a long walk was taken. Ugly weather was threatening so the walk was somewhat abbreviated and light rain was falling before we got back to our site. Before dinner was ready we lost power and finished on battery power. The steelers game was also watched on batteries and the loss was a fitting end to the evening. In the morning we learned of severe thunderstorms that had knocked out power.
