This park is huge! Its amenities include 2 miles of beach, three lakes, the longest fishing pier in the gulf, 28 miles of trails, and a 496 site campground.
The fishing pier is a great place to stroll and watch other folks catch fish. We lucked into a sunny part of the day.

Pelicans enjoy it too!

We walked several trails in the park and visited the nature center just in time for a raptor talk. Archimedes the screech owl is blind in one eye and serves as an animal ambassador.

Biking in the park is fantastic. Our favorite trail was Beach Mouse Bypass, a 1.1 mile boardwalk elevated above the lake and surrounding marshes.

The campsites are large. They don’t have much privacy, but that gave us opportunities to enjoy the Christmas decorations.
